Why I Build Games and Interactive Experiences for Local Businesses
I know what you're thinking. Games? For a local business?
Hear me out.
What a Game Actually Does for Your Marketing
A game isn't just entertainment. It's a marketing tool that gets people to spend time with your brand, learn your products, and remember you — in a way that a static ad never could.
Think about it. A Facebook ad gets 2 seconds of attention if you're lucky. A game? People play for minutes. They share it with friends. They come back to beat their score. And every second they're playing, they're thinking about your business.
The RAM Rental Match Game
I built an equipment match game for RAM Rental in Round Lake Park. The concept was simple: can you match all 10 pieces of equipment? Dump trailer. Skid steer. Lawn aerator. Trencher. Scissor lift.
The game lives at marketingwithjg.com/ram-rental-game. It's free to play. It's promoted on Facebook. And every person who plays it is spending time with the RAM Rental brand — learning the equipment, getting comfortable with it, and removing the fear that stops people from renting.
That's the same problem the ACDI 2.0 campaign was solving. The game just solves it in a different way.
The Kaplan Paving Outdoor Kitchen Configurator
This one I'm especially proud of. I built an interactive outdoor kitchen designer for Kaplan Paving — a 4-step configurator where visitors choose their brick style, countertop material, and features, then see a live preview of their dream kitchen take shape.
No other small outdoor brick construction company in Northern Illinois has this. Not one. It completely sets Kaplan apart from every competitor in the market.
When a homeowner uses the configurator, they arrive at the estimate call with a design already in mind. The conversation is completely different. They're not asking "what do you do?" They're asking "can you build this?"
The People's Choice Historical Archive
And then there's the People's Choice Family Fun Center in Waukegan. John has been running that place since 1971. Generations of families have grown up there.
I built a 10-chapter documentary archive for People's Choice — videos, a timeline, a visual archive of the physical spaces, and a community memory submission form where families can share their own photos and stories.
That's not just a marketing page. That's a piece of community history. And it creates a connection between People's Choice and every family in Waukegan that no ad could replicate.
What's Coming Next
This fall, I'm launching ACDI 2.0 catering campaign games for Luisa's Pizza, Sammie's, and McCook Bohemian Restaurant. Each one is a custom interactive experience built specifically for their brand and their audience.
This is what marketing looks like when you stop thinking about ads and start thinking about experiences.

Marketing Systems vs. Marketing Campaigns — There's a Big Difference
A campaign runs for a while and stops. A system runs in the background, generates leads, and keeps working while you focus on your business. Here's why I build systems — not just campaigns.

What Is ACDI 2.0 — And Why It Works for Local Businesses
I built a system that turns one piece of source content into a complete Facebook Collection Ad, Instant Experience, and Digital Showroom. It runs in the background. The leads come in warm. Here's how it works.

Your Yelp Page Is Not Just for Reviews Anymore
Yelp quietly became one of the most important data sources in the entire search ecosystem. ChatGPT, Apple Maps, Siri, Bing, Alexa, Meta AI — they're all pulling from it. If your listing is outdated, that's what they're showing your customers.
